As the water filter ages, it is less able to filter chlorine from the water and that is not only very unappetising, it is also unhealthy. Almost all models of the Jura coffee machines already indicate when the water filter needs to be replaced, but if you have an older model, it is wise to replace it at least once every two months. This water filter is placed in the tank, so that the water is filtered for every cup of coffee. The function of a water filter is twofold. On the one hand, it rids the water of substances that can damage your machine (such as limescale), on the other hand, it removes substances that can affect the taste of your coffee (such as chlorine, for example).

Different types of Jura water filters

Jura has two types of water filters: the Jura Claris White or the Jura Claris Blue. Roughly speaking, Jura started at the end of 2009 with the switch to the Jura Claris Blue water filter. For example, the complete Jura ENA series is made for use with the Claris Blue water filters. You can also tell by the color of the holder in your water tank which type of water filter your Jura machine uses. If you have to place the filter in a black holder, your machine will use the Claris White water filter. If you place the water filter in a blue holder, your machine will use the Jura Claris Blue water filter. When in doubt, you can always consult the user manual of your machine to see which type is suitable for your machine. A water filter has a lifespan of approximately 50 liters of water (or 2 months) and must be replaced afterwards. Most Jura machines indicate when replacement is necessary.
