In the spotlight: Kimbo

Coffee fans all over the world love Kimbo, the Italian coffee brand that’s famous for their strong and flavorful espresso.

Real Neapolitan coffee

The Italian city of Naples is the birthplace of espresso and the locals there are very discerning about their coffee. The Rubino brothers grew up in Naples and after the Second World War, Francesco, Gerardo, and Elio Rubino helped their father in his grocery store. With a coffee bar in a corner of the store, the three brothers spent a lot of time roasting coffee for their customers. By 1963 demand for their coffee became so great that they established their own roasters called, Café do Brasil. The coffee was sold under the name Café Kimbo and within 10 years Café Kimbo became the market leader in Naples. Today, the company is still run by the Rubino family.

Strong authenticity

Café Kimbo is known for its intense flavor. This strong character has made Kimbo an international success. These days, they still roast coffee the way it was back in the Rubino’s grocery store. This type of authenticity has ensured that Kimbo's espresso retains its appeal decade after decade. The Kimbo range now consists of several coffee flavors with their own distinct character.

Remembering the past

As a family run business, Kimbo honors their roots by donating some of their profits to local projects in Naples to help improve the city. Kimbo’s vision of their corporate responsibility extends to the environment and they are actively working to reduce their environmental impact. All of the coffee beans the company roasts come exclusively from plantations with the Rainforest Alliance Certificate. The RAC approval ensures better living conditions for farmers, the ecosystem and of course the rainforest.
