At Be Good Coffee, it’s not just about the taste of the coffee that has to be good. We spoke to Ross, founder of Be Good Coffee. He tells us how he helps the coffee farmers where he sources his coffee.
The idea
Ross has supported other companies in starting and building business projects for clients and investors for over 15 years. But it was time to use all his skills and knowledge to start his own project. Ross says: “In my opinion, the project had to be set up with a solid business logic, but also with delivering happiness and well-being in the communities involved. That’s how the selection of industry and brand came together: the coffee industry is going through so many changes that offer multiple business opportunities and at the same time a big field for doing good and human initiatives.”
The mission of Be Good Coffee
Be good Coffee works from a clear mission. The Be Good Coffee brand was born in 2018 with the idea of making great coffee but also giving back to everyone who contributed.
They do this by investing the profits of Be Good Coffee in new coffee trees for the coffee farmers. When asked why, Ross answers: “That's a simple answer: Be Good Coffee exists to bring our customers the best coffee they can buy!”
Protecting the future of coffee
According to scientists, there will be no coffee trees in 2080. It seems far away from today, but scientists say that if we don’t do something now, it’s a very likely future. “So Be Good Coffee is trying to address that by supporting farmers to grow coffee trees that are resilient to climate change. That’s why we give all of our net profits from the sale of Be Good Coffee back to the farmers. Because we don’t know of anyone else in the world doing the same thing, we think we’re filling a big gap in the market.”
Coffee wish
We conclude with the question: What is your future dream for Be Good Coffee?
“It would be great if we could make it clear to people that they can drink a great, reasonably priced, fresh cup of coffee while supporting the planting of a new coffee tree.”
