The improved capsules of Dolce Gusto
Since September 2019, Dolce Gusto has drastically changed the packaging of its capsules. Instead of the well-known traditional black capsule, there is now the brown version. The idea behind this change is one with a positive ecological edge. What exactly does this entail?

Pollution from plastic use has increased dramatically over the past 70 years.
This leads to all kinds of negative consequences in nature, because plastic is not always recycled. As a result, the oceans are becoming increasingly polluted and more and more unnecessary plastic is also floating around in nature on land. This is also just a waste of the material. It takes a very long time for this to break down and be reabsorbed, without human intervention. Especially in the past decades, this problem has taken on ever greater proportions.

The role of the brown Dolce Gusto capsule
By changing the colour of the capsules, Dolce Gusto is responding to the fact that black plastic is more difficult to recycle than brown plastic. This change means that global plastic use is decreasing and Dolce Gusto is making a contribution in this way. The greater goal of Nestlé as a brand is to minimise the impact on the environment and the planet as much as possible. In addition, the aim is to improve the lives of coffee farmers and their families. Steps are being taken continuously in this regard. Replacing the black capsules with brown capsules is one of them in terms of the environment.
