Pure Venetian bliss

If you are looking for a real Venetian cup of coffee, you can't ignore Caffè Del Doge. Since the fifties, Caffè Del Doge has been roasting their own coffee using the traditional Venetian method. KoffiePiraat is already a fan of this brand and will show you why:

Favorite of Venetians and tourists

Near the Rialto Bridge in Venice, somewhere in a small quiet street, all coffee lovers from Venice and the rest of the world gather. Here they come together to enjoy a cup of Caffè Del Doge. And they are not the only lovers. The brand's coffee is served in 120 establishments in Venice and the strong 'Doge Nero' - a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans - is a real crowd pleaser. 'Doge Rosso' - a 100% Arabica blend - is also popular in Italy. These beans are softer than Doge Nero, but make no mistake: it is still a strong, Italian espresso!

The Doge

In 1952, Ermenegildo Rizzardini started out as an ‘Artisan Roaster’. Now, over 50 years later, the company is run by Bernardo Della Mea and Caffè Del Doge exports their own unique coffee beans. The coffee beans are still roasted according to the classic Venetian method - Classico Veneziano - and despite the growth of the company, you can still taste the true craftsmanship. The brand is named after the Venetian Doges. A Doge was the leader of the high council in Venice, when Venice was still a Republic between 697 and 1797. The Doge was recognizable by his iconic red crown. Caffè Del Doge was inspired by this important figure in Venetian history and now has a stylized version of the red crown as their logo.

Not just coffee smell and moonlight

If you walked along the canals in Venice between the 1950s and 2000s, you could smell it: Caffè Del Doge was roasting coffee again. Until 2002, the entire street always smelled of freshly roasted coffee - as if in a fairy tale. Unfortunately, fairy tales also have a downside: in 2002, a fire broke out in the roastery! Fortunately, this ended well, but for fire safety reasons, Caffè Del Doge decided to move the roastery to Triste. From a logistical point of view, this was also very convenient: all green coffee beans arrive in Triste. But what about the residents of Venice who can no longer enjoy the smell of coffee? They have nothing to complain about. On the same spot as the roastery, there is now a Caffè Del Doge café where all coffee lovers' dreams come true. This café is definitely worth a visit if you are in Venice!

No trip to Venice planned, but still want to enjoy Caffè Del Doge? Then you can find KoffiePiraat's offer here: Caffè Del Doge at KoffiePiraat
