Passion for tea from Africa
Tea company Birchall is no stranger in the tea world. The company has been producing high-quality, delicious tea for years. The company specializes in real black tea. Despite this specialty, the company experiments with interesting blends to expand the range. Birchall's tea plantations extend from Rwanda to the Great Rift Valley in Kenya. According to Birchall, the best tea can be found in this area. The tea bushes grow much slower in the volcanic soil, which ensures more flavor. Birchall's tea therefore comes exclusively from the East of Africa. The tea is ultimately picked by hand so that only the best tea leaves are used. This way, Birchall knows for sure that every cup of tea is full of flavor.
No cup of tea without family
Every cup of Birchall tea is full of tradition and history. This is not surprising because the company has been active since 1872. The company has been run by five different generations for more than 140 years. Birchall is therefore a real family business and is very proud of this. It all started when Captain Birchall George Graham was sent to India. The soldier fell in love with tea and took his own plants back to England. In 1872 he went back to India with his savings and his brother to grow tea in Darjeeling. Birchall's tea quickly became popular and was seen as a true pioneer in the field of tea. He meant a lot to tea in India, not only for himself but also for the other farmers. His grave can still be found in Darjeeling at the Tea Estate Cemetery.

Black is the new gold
Birchall tea is synonymous with quality. This is not surprising when you consider that Birchall has won a lot of prizes in recent years. Since 2011, Birchall has won 47 prizes at The Guild of Fine Food's Great Taste Awards. The black tea in particular is very popular. The characteristic Great Rift Breakfast Blend stands head and shoulders above the rest. This variant has won the Great Taste Award for 8 years in a row.
