If you order coffee from us often, you may have come across a barrel of their popcorn with your order. We regularly do giveaways and one of our favorite giveaways is Allebrand's popcorn. We love it so much that we like to share it with our customers.
The origin of Allebrand's
Allebrand's Gourmet Popcorn is a true family business. Joshua's father started the company about 25 years ago in America. Joshua grew up there and started helping make popcorn at the age of 12. He soon inherited his father's passion for popcorn.
Allebrand's in the Netherlands
Joshua met his wife Mirjam in Kansas and she also developed a great love for the popcorn business. Together they discussed the possibilities of selling the popcorn in the Netherlands. When they decided to move to the Netherlands, they took the popcorn with them and opened an Allebrand's Gourmet Popcorn store in Dordrecht.
Here in the Netherlands, Allebrand's is available at many different locations. Think of events, but also cinemas or on the drinks menu in restaurants. Flavors like Caramel-Coffee and Jalepeno Chili Cheese do very well here.
Distinctive
The popcorn market in the Netherlands is very small and the existing market often supplies large companies. Allebrand's is smaller, uses family recipes with the best ingredients and everything is handmade. This is what really sets Allebrand's apart from other popcorn brands. “Dutch people are open to try new things,” says Joshua. “Sometimes people who don't even like popcorn come in, but they leave with a smile on their face and have a new favorite popcorn flavor.”
The Future
What does he think about the future? Joshua hopes that Allebrand's will be available in more places in the coming years. He is also thinking about opening a pop-up shop, which literally pops up like his popcorn. He also hopes to keep his loyal customers and of course see new, happy faces that come to look at his shop.
